An update for all post-16 providers on the new guidelines and toolkit.
Overview
This webinar will provide an overview of the new Keeping children safe in education - GOV.UK guidelines, published by the Department for Education which came into force on 1 September 2026.
It will also introduce the new Relationship Sex Education Toolkit, available to post-16 providers. The toolkit has been created over the past 18 months to support educators in addressing misogyny and reduce gender based violence. The toolkit includes bespoke materials generated to address consent, controlling and coercive behaviours. The toolkit also includes a student created campaign for promotion across the sector.

Polly Harrow MBE
DfE Student Support Champion, Associate Kirklees College
Polly Harrow is a highly skilled and experienced educational practitioner who has delivered training and presentations to audiences across the UK and Europe, with outstanding feedback. She has worked in education for over 30 years and has a significant proven track record and an excellent reputation across the sector. She was Assistant Principal and Senior Designated Safeguarding lead at Kirklees College for the past 13 years and remains an Associate working with the college. Polly is a qualified Trauma and Mental Health National Practitioner (Distinction, TISUK), and a Senior Mental Health Lead and now delivers a range of staff development to post 16 educators as a private consultant.
Polly’s areas of expertise sit primarily in all aspects of safeguarding, equality, diversity & inclusion, restorative and trauma informed practice, positive behaviour, exploitation & radicalisation, coaching & mentoring and sexual harms and violence, gangs and knife crime. Polly sits on a number of local and national boards and steering groups focussed on safeguarding, mental health and youth violence including the Ofsted Wellbeing Board. She has been an Associate with ETF and previously was Chair of Namss for 10 years. In December 2023, Polly was announced by Minister Robert Halfon as the first FE Student Support Champion in the post 16 sector and has recently been invited by Baroness Jacqui Smith, Minister For FE, Skills, Women & Equalities, to continue in that role until 2028. In that role, Polly will continue to focus on supporting colleges to tackle misogyny and violence against women and girls.
In June 2026, Polly was awarded an MBE for services to Further Education.
