Overview
On 15 July 2026, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) published Version 2 of the 2026/27 Apprenticeship Funding Rules, introducing updates to employer co-investment arrangements alongside a range of policy clarifications and operational changes for providers and employers.
Subsequently, following further announcements yesterday (28th July) regarding the new bursary available to some apprentices, whose families are in receipt of Universal Credit, and fully funded apprenticeships for under 25s, we are now expecting Version 3 to be published imminently.
This practical webinar is perfectly timed to help apprenticeship providers (members and non-members) to understand all of the key changes, assess the impact on delivery, and prepare for implementation for the new academic year.
The session will cover key compliance, evidence and audit considerations arising from the updated rules along with the most significant changes, and how they differ from the previous versions.
Objectives
By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:
- Understand the key changes introduced in Version 2 and 3* (*pending publication) of the 2026/27 Apprenticeship Funding Rules and identify how they differ from Version 1.
- Interpret the latest requirements relating to employer co-investment and understand the implications for provider processes and funding management
- Assess the operational impact of the updated funding rules on apprenticeship delivery for the 2026/27 academic year
- Apply the revised rules to support organisational compliance and reduce funding risk
- Understand the key evidence requirements needed to demonstrate compliance with the funding rules
- Identify the main audit considerations arising from the updated rules and prepare effectively for assurance activity
- Recognise areas where policy clarifications may require changes to existing processes, procedures or documentation.
