Overview

In this webinar we will cover 4 main themes, allowing time for questions and providing fresh insight as to what senior leaders should be looking for from their teams. Topics to be covered include:

  • Inclusion – understanding barriers and graduated approach and staff training requirements
  • Careers, Enterprise, Information, Advice and Guidance - understanding the requirements of a programme of IAG
  • Governance – revised expectations of the renewed Ofsted framework
  • Changes to assessment – making sure that Providers don’t cause themselves bigger problems by focussing on qualification achievement at the cost of wider development.

The session will be run as a discussion between the chair, Dr Gareth Thomas and Rob Mottram. Gareth and Rob are Founding Directors of Pro Excellence Partnership and may well be joined by other members of the team.

The session will focus on the Leadership and Governance, and what leaders need to make sure is in place in their organisations. It will help attendees identify their own priorities for action following the introduction of the revised EIF.

Following the discussion, the presenters will take questions from participants.

Objectives

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:

  • Shape you company’s approach to inclusion, including identifying less obvious barriers and taking a proactive approach to the topic. Have a greater understanding of support expectations of the sector, and how these can be put into practice. Understand what Graduated Support really means, CPD expectations and how to support your teams.
  • Understand the latest expectations on the provision of IAG to all learners. You will be able to identify areas for development within your organisation, and develop strategies aligned to the latest expectations.
  • Understand expectations around Governance and identify areas where you may need to strengthen your approach. This includes input from our presenters who are experienced Board members and Chairs.
  • Identify some of the risks associated with changes to assessment, including unintended consequences of focussing too much on mandatory qualifications as the only element of End Point Assessment.
