End Point Assessment Reforms
Overview
The proposed reforms to apprenticeship assessment, as outlined at our recent National Conference, mark a significant shift in approach placing greater emphasis on collaboration between assessment organisations, providers and employers in confirming an apprentice’s competence and behaviours. These changes will affect multiple aspects of a provider’s operations, including contracting, curriculum design, staffing, systems, and payment models.
Providers will need sufficient time to adapt and plan, including developing clear strategies for how they support employers to participate meaningfully and consistently in assessing occupational competence and behaviours.
Assessment Organisations are also beginning to shape their response, with new delivery models and differentiated approaches to meet the evolving expectations.
This panel discussion brings together AELP board member perspectives from an assessment organisation and two providers, to explore how all parties, including employers, can work in partnership to ensure the revised assessment process remains robust, fair, and focused on high-quality outcomes for apprentices.
