Melvyn Parr is an accomplished apprenticeship and skills development leader with over 25 years' experience in training, education and workforce development. He began his career by completing an engineering apprenticeship in Mechanical and Mechatronics Design within the aerospace and defence sector, building a strong technical foundation that continues to shape his approach to developing engineering talent.
Following the successful completion of his apprenticeship, Melvyn progressed into management, leading a department of design engineers and developing a robust apprenticeship and technical training programme. This early leadership experience ignited a passion for workforce development and marked the beginning of a career dedicated to apprenticeships and skills training. Over the past 25 years, he has held a variety of senior management and director-level positions across both independent and national training providers, leading high-performing teams in business development, account management, quality assurance, e-learning, curriculum development and operational delivery.
Prior to joining Engineering Trust Training (ETT) in 2018, Melvyn managed the Crossrail Technical Academy in London, overseeing one of the UK's most significant skills initiatives and supporting the training of more than 25,000 learners over a five-year period. He is also a qualified adult teacher and vocational assessor.
Appointed Director of Delivery and Operations in 2023, Melvyn leads all operational aspects of ETT's apprenticeship provision, including The Engineering Skills Academy. His responsibilities encompass curriculum development, delivery, assessment, e-learning, employer engagement and operational excellence.
