Effective questioning is one of the most powerful tools available to teachers, trainers, assessors and coaches. When used purposefully, questions can uncover what learners already know, stimulate curiosity, deepen thinking and support meaningful learning.
This practical webinar will help you move beyond simply asking more questions to asking the right question, at the right time, for the right purpose. You’ll explore a range of questioning approaches, including diagnostic, analytical, reflective, formative, application, creative, supportive and guiding questions.
Through practical examples, you’ll consider how questioning can be adapted for different contexts, including teaching, training, assessment, reviews and coaching conversations. You’ll leave with practical techniques and a bank of question stems that you can use immediately to strengthen your practice.

Paul Wakeling qualified as a teacher in 1993 and has had a number of roles in the Learning and Skills Sector, including Principal of Havering Sixth Form College, Group Deputy Principal of New City College and Exec Director of E- Learning at The Skills Network. Paul now works across the sector with a focus of leadership development and the development of teaching, learning and assessment. He is also Chair of Governors at USP College.
