This webinar will show how providers can strengthen their adult care provision by aligning programmes with the refreshed Adult Care Workforce Pathway, developed by the Department for Health and Social Care, in partnerships with Skills for Care. Covering eight clear career roles, the pathway creates a universal structure for progression in adult social care. 

During the webinar, NCFE and Skills for Care will provide an introduction to the Adult Care Workforce Pathway and its role in supporting providers, learners, and the wider health and care system. NCFE will also offer guidance on how providers can build robust programmes that deliver meaningful and targeted progression in adult care.

This webinar will outline how qualifications and apprenticeships that map directly to 8 key adult care roles, helping providers deliver provision that meets funding requirements, prepares for apprenticeship assessment reforms, and secures progression for learners. Cheryl Swales, Head of Strategic Projects, AELP

Cheryl joined AELP in December 2015 as a home-based Project Manager. Cheryl has held various roles within the organisation but more recently moved into the Policy, Projects and Comms Team as Head of Strategic Projects.

Cheryl holds various qualifications relevant to the sector including a BA (Hons) in Education Studies, a Foundation Degree in Work-based Learning , a Level 4 in Project Management and she is also a qualified tutor, assessor and internal quality assurer.

Claire brings over 25 years of experience in the health and social care sector. She specialises in developing and enhancing vocational qualifications that promote workforce wellbeing and professional progression in adult care and mental health.

Claire works closely with training providers to support the design and delivery of curriculum that creates meaningful learner progression. Her expertise ensures that programmes align with national priorities and employer expectations, equipping learners with the skills, values, and behaviours needed to thrive in adult care roles. Through her work, Claire helps raise the quality of provision while strengthening recruitment, retention, and professional recognition across the sector.

Andrew Barton, Product Manager, NCFE

Andrew Barton is a Product Manager at NCFE, specialising in adult education and workforce development. With a career spanning over a two decades in the vocational education and training sector, Andrew has held various roles, including teaching and assessing within further education institutions, as a Senior Operations Manager for adult qualifications at NCFE and Product Manager at EAL Awards. His experience encompasses overseeing portfolios of regulated qualifications and apprenticeships, focusing on innovation and meeting the evolving needs of learners and training providers.

At NCFE, Andrew leads initiatives related to funding reforms, such as the transition from the Adult Education Budget (AEB) to the Adult Skills Fund (ASF), and the implementation of the Free Courses for Jobs programme. He collaborates closely with training providers to ensure that qualifications align with national standards and address sector-specific demands, particularly in health and social care and Education & Training.

Andrew's expertise lies in developing and delivering qualifications that facilitate meaningful progression for learners, supporting both individual career development and the broader objectives of workforce enhancement.
