Stuart Allen, Chief Education Officer, SCL

Stuart was born and raised in Derbyshire, which is where he currently lives with his wife, daughter and son.  After waking up from his dreams of becoming a professional footballer, Stuart studied Sport Science at university in the aim to enter the teaching world. Since then, Stuart has gained over 18 years’ experience within the further education and skills sector working in roles ranging from a Sport Science teacher to Chief Education Officer with a specialist focus on Curriculum, Quality and Product/Commercial Development. 

Stuart is a passionate executive leader who is dedicated to the delivery of career defining, life changing education and training.  Stuart has a breadth of experience in strategic and operational leadership that delivers successful and sustained outcomes for learners, staff, employers, and stakeholders.  Stuart is driven by the power of education and the opportunity to work every day with individuals where you can have a transformational impact on their immediate and future decisions, behaviours, and achievements.  A true privilege.

Sharon Weetman, Principal, Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Sharon has 20+ years’ experience in strategic partnership and leadership roles in the VCFSE and public sectors. She started in social housing and customer services and now has extensive policy and delivery experience across all aspects of Education, Skills & Work, first in local authorities and now at the GMCA. She is currently working on implementation of the GM Integrated Technical Education City Region programme and GM Baccalaureate; design, commissioning, and oversight of GM NEET Prevention programmes, testing a new place-based approach to delivery; and development of inclusive youth employment pathways.

Lauren Mistry, Deputy CEO, Youth Employment UK

As deputy CEO Lauren leads Youth Employment UK’s strategies on research, insight and best practice across youth and business audiences. She’s passionate about ensuring that all young people get the resources they need to understand and support their best next steps and that there are accessible, quality opportunities available wherever young people live.

Lauren leads Youth Employment UK’s annual Youth Voice Census, the largest Youth Voice survey of its kind. In addition, she is leading Youth Employment UK’s work to launch a first of its kind evidence based Good Youth Employment Benchmark this year, changing how employers understand and plan their youth employment strategies across the UK.

 

John Hamilton, Head of Business Development, Gateway Qualifications

John is an educational professional with a solid commercial background. Experience of mainstream education for 9 years – 3 of those in a leadership capacity. Previously, a recruitment manager within the food sector, managing a team of 3. This experience gives John commercial knowledge, with a broad understanding of the education sector.
