Overview

This in-depth, interactive workshop is your essential guide to delivering high-impact, inspection-ready Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).

Led by expert Maureen Deary and supported by guest speakers from the matrix Standard, The Gatsby Foundation, and the wider sector, this session will take a granular look at the alignment between the matrix Standard, Gatsby Benchmarks, and Ofsted inspection expectations.

You’ll explore:

  • The matrix Standard elements and accreditation requirements
  • The latest Gatsby Benchmarks and how they apply in real-world provision
  • Ofsted’s current and upcoming frameworks, with a focus on CEIAG
  • How contextualised maths and English underpin strong IAG practices
  • Themes and trends from recent inspection reports and sector analysis
  • Built around practical reflection, quality improvement, and discussion, this session will help you improve your CEIAG delivery, prepare for matrix assessment, and embed meaningful IAG into the learner journey.

Objectives

By attending this session, delegates will:

  • Gain a detailed understanding of the matrix Standard elements relating to IAG and how they align with the 2025 Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Explore how to deliver high-quality, contextualised CEIAG and IAG that meets current Ofsted expectations and future EIF developments
  • Learn how maths and English form a core foundation of effective careers guidance and how to integrate these within CEIAG
  • Identify evidence-based approaches to demonstrate good practice in inspections
  • Understand how to prepare for a successful matrix Standard assessment or re-accreditation

Maureen Deary, FE and Skills and Independent Schools Inspector, Strategic Adviser in Quality

Maureen is a current practising further education and skills inspector and lead inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). She inspects and provides consultancy support across all FE and Skills and HEI provision and a wide range of sector areas sectors. She works with a range of colleges, prime and sub-contractor/partner training provider organisations and is a consultant and adviser in quality development support and improvement work and has supported organisations for over thirty years in the state, private, schools, further and higher education sectors.  . She has lived and worked overseas in the education sector and has held representative sports coaching posts to national level. Maureen has worked for a number of awarding bodies approving new centres, developing qualifications, acting as a Chief and Centre Approvals Verifier/Moderator and Principal Examiner and QCF qualification designer, whilst living in the UK and in Hong Kong and Asia.

Christine has a wide occupational background and has held key roles within apprenticeship provision since 2003. Her knowledge is comprehensive across all aspects of the operational and quality functions and she has an in depth understanding of Ofsted inspection requirements. She is passionate about ensuring that maths and English teaching and support is effectively integrated and value recognised within all training.

Sue Gomer, Quality Director, Logistica Training & Consultancy

Quality Director at Logistica Training & Consultancy, an experienced senior leader within adult education and apprenticeships. Responsible for Ofsted, Matrix and DFE quality compliance.
