This lively and interactive session is your chance to explore what effective, contextualised development of maths and English really looks like in 2025.

Whether or not Functional Skills qualifications are required, the ability to equip learners with strong, relevant maths and English skills is non-negotiable — for confidence, progression, and career success.

Join us to gain real-world strategies, current best practice, and innovative tools (including AI!) to engage learners and boost outcomes across all vocational and apprenticeship programmes.

Objectives

You’ll leave this session with:

  • A clear understanding of the current challenges — and what’s working — in maths and English delivery.
  • Fresh ideas for embedding skills meaningfully, whether qualifications are required or not.
  • Practical strategies for contextualisation, stretch, and feedback across programmes.
  • Insights into Ofsted expectations and how to evidence impactful learning.
  • Inspiration and tools to make maths and English delivery more engaging, inclusive and effective — including the use of digital tools and AI.

Facilitator

Christine Edwards QTLS, Creating Excellence

Christine has a wide occupational background and has held key roles within apprenticeship provision since 2003. Her knowledge is comprehensive across all aspects of the operational and quality functions and she has an in depth understanding of Ofsted inspection requirements. She is passionate about ensuring that maths and English teaching and support is effectively integrated and value recognised within all training.
