AELP National Conference 2020

Levelling up skills

October 19 & 20, Novotel London West

Overview

A new government with a post-Brexit agenda has huge implications for skills. The AELP National Conference 2020 is ideally timed for providers to plan strategically as the government’s plans become clearer.

With the outcome of Budget 2020 known and Whitehall in the throes of a value-for-money Spending Round which will set the parameters of the five-year term, we will have the opportunity to debate what “levelling up” and the proposed migratory controls actually mean for skills.

The AELP National Conference 2020 will consider whether we are on the right track in respect of reforms to apprenticeships, traineeships, adult education, English and maths, and other provision.

The results of the mayoral elections in London and combined authorities areas in May will also offer pointers to devolved skills provision in the future. Delegates can discuss what the impact of a devolved adult education budget has been so far and what lessons have been learnt from devolution.

Venue

The AELP National Conference 2020 will be held for the seventh time at the 4* Novotel London West, Hammersmith.

The hotel has some of the largest conference facilities in the area and can cater for up to 1000 delegates - no other conference, event, convention or exhibition venue in London is as well equipped or as versatile.

For the AELP National Conference, the main conference room, registration area, accommodation check-in desk, exhibition/catering area and the syndicate rooms are all conveniently located in one part of the venue.

Speakers

A focus on quality is always a feature of a major AELP conference and this year will take stock on the challenge of delivering good programmes against a background of rising costs and further reform such as the Education Inspection Framework.  Providers have worked hard to improve governance and the National Conference will aim to build on progress.

An excellent range of workshops in addition to top-level representation on the plenary sessions makes AELP National Conference 2020 another event that you cannot afford to miss!
