Train the Trainer - Functional Skills Maths

Become a Functional Skills Maths Subject expert - Level 1 and Level 2

Overview

This one day workshop for those who are confident with their own maths ability at Level 2 and above wanting to further develop their skills in order to support others to be able to deliver Functional Skills maths to learners at Level 1 and Level 2 more confidently.

The workshop will cover the requirements of the reformed Level 1 and Level 2 Functional maths and provide an in depth understanding of the qualification expectations and additional challenges for learners.

Content will also cover:

  • effective use of baseline learner information to inform planning for learning and maths skill development up to Level 2 and beyond;
  • managing learner stretch and challenge;
  • the challenges and misconceptions that form barriers to maths learning;
  • confident programme development and vocational integration;
  • teaching problem solving and understand the increased requirements for problem solving within end assessment and develop strategies to support and deliver training;
  • develop strategies for supporting confident approaches to non-calculator preparation for assessment;
  • the development of learner independence, mastery and competence;
  • learner readiness for final assessment; and
  • strategies that will support the development of others when delivering maths to learners.

Target Audience

Tutors/ Trainers/ Teachers/ Practitioners delivering Functional Skills who feel confident with their own maths Functional Skills to Level 2 and supporting learners with their development towards successful completion of Functional Skills maths end assessment.

Delegates would typically be employed within organisations that deliver Functional Skills maths to Apprentices where vocational delivery teams/staff do not feel confident to support learners with their maths development or where capacity for more confident delivery and integration of maths into programmes.

Typically organisations delivering Apprenticeships where maths is supported as part of the main programme and capacity with Numeracy subject specialists does not fully meet the demand will benefit e.g. Independent Training Providers/ Colleges/ Employer Providers

Non-Member rate: £375.00 + VAT

Membership Pledge

Any non-member, who pays the non-member rate and subsequently becomes a member within 30 days of attending an event, will be reimbursed the difference between the non-member rate and the AELP member rate.
