£6 million BIG Assist gives backing for sector support

Last updated: 9 Oct 2012

Information

Big Lottery Fund and NCVO have teamed up for a new £6 million initiative. The BIG Assist programme will help voluntary sector support and development organisations adapt to the changing needs of the frontline.

BIG Assist is the first stage of Big Lottery Fund’s Building Capabilities for Impact and Legacy approach. It is a radical departure from previous capacity–building investments, as the majority of funding will go directly to local support and development organisations. These organisations will then be able to choose what support they need in order to adapt their services to changing needs, funding and expectations of frontline organisations. Through the programme, infrastructure organisations will be able to apply for vouchers to buy support through BIG Assist. Once awarded a voucher they will view and select the support of their choice from the list of approved Assist suppliers. NCVO are now looking for supplier applications that are able to demonstrate quality services and experience of delivering support to the voluntary sector. The first round of applications is now open until 15 October 2012. To apply online, visit http://www.bigassist.org.uk/supplier-requirements. Information about the project can be found here.
