The Skills Funding Agency has announced its intention to reduce the number of contracts awarded by raising the threshold of minimum contract values. Prime contractors will then have the opportunity to sub-contract to smaller organisations via competitive tendering practices where innovative, bespoke provision that meets the needs of discrete target groups will be the order of the day. Meeting all the requirements of a tender specification is fundamental; writing a tender that stands out above the rest is the challenge.
This one day workshop is designed to help provider staff improve their understanding and ability to submit quality tenders for both prime and sub-contracted specifications, whether funded through core or co-financed tender calls.
At the end of the workshop, attendees will:
• Understand the different procurement practices open to providers: open and competitive, selective and low value call off and the differences therein
• Appreciate the management areas covered in pre-qualification questionnaires and tenders and the expectations of funders as to quality and achievement
• Know how to respond to the Invitation to Tender – designing appropriate proposals to service requirements
• Benefit from reviewing tips and hints on best practice responses – what makes a good tender, working with selection criteria
• Be aware of the sources of information for tendering organisations – web and hard copy
Who should attend?
Business development managers, senior managers, contracting team members and all provide staff who might become involved in developing tender responses.
