Dissemination of the Chief Inspector’s 2010 Annual Report

Date: 29 Nov 2010 to 29 Nov 2010

Type: External

Sponsor: ALP

Overview:

With the Chief Inspectors report (CIR) due to be published at the end of November 2010, this timely ALP event which will look at the key messages Ofsted will be making about Work Based Learning providers who were inspected during the period covered by the CIR. There will be input from HMI inspectors with work based learning experience who will draw directly from their experience of inspecting providers in the WBL sector. In addition, following the launch at ALP's July National Conference of a report highlighting the good practice of 12 outstanding providers by the Chief Inspector Christine Gilbert, ALP is pleased to announce that we will be featuring some of these providers at the event who will share their experiences and good practice.

A range of workshops will tackle issues which are pertinent to providers to help them develop their provision in key areas identified by the Chief Inspector which need focus. A key issue for independent providers is moving from satisfactory provision to good provision. One of the Workshops will be facilitated by a provider who has moved their provision over time from satisfactory to outstanding via good - delegates will have the opportunity to learn from their experiences. Another key issue facing both small and large providers is sub contracting as a result of the SFAs policy to impose a minimum contract value on their contracts; Ofsted will run a workshop on how they inspect subcontracted provision. There will be a workshop on how to embed equality and diversity and the impact that has had on maximising outcomes for learners.
